He continued: \u201cAccountability isn\u2019t simply a set of rules, but a culture built on \u2018compassion, clarity, focus, and outcomes\u2019\u2014guiding Washburn\u2019s approach to the pressing needs in child mental health services.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Reflecting on his own journey\u2014from a childhood shaped by faith, education, and service, through his years in the military\u2014Craig summed up his leadership philosophy: \u201cIt\u2019s about creating a space for people to thrive, even in difficult times, and to hold onto hope, not just for the people we serve, but for each other.\u201d At Washburn, he\u2019s building a culture that respects and empowers people to bring their whole selves to the table, sustaining a spirit of hope and resilience for both staff and the children they serve.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Long-term success is difficult to envision: \u201cI hope that someday, we won\u2019t have this kind of demand for children&#8217;s mental health services,\u201d he shared. So the secrets to building a high performing culture are built on building hope, finding joy, supporting caregivers one-on-one, and stimulating them collectively as professional colleagues \u2013 and most importantly, finding gratitude in very difficult jobs where the benefits of their work are often unseen. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Craig\u2019s Success Habits<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Craig\u2019s leadership boils down to a few core concepts that keep Washburn\u2019s team focused, especially in an environment filled with secondary trauma and emotional challenges. He explained these three success habits, that his team appreciates about his leadership: &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"1\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Laser-focused vision<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"2\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Require staff to ask clear questions<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"3\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Contemplative action \u2013 careful consideration of multiple dynamics within time constraints<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Together, these success habits shape a culture where people feel empowered to address tough issues openly\u2014a space that encourages both challenging and supporting one another constructively.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Join the Good Leadership Conference<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The Good Leadership Conference on November 22 will showcase insights from the Accountability Research Project, with a focus on embedding healthy accountability across diverse teams.
