Becca was the third of four podcasts so far. <a href=\"https:\/\/goodleadership.com\/podcast\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">You can listen to that episode here.<\/a> \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Based in Minnesota, Securian has been providing insurance and retirement solutions for 140 years. Becca, with over 25 years in HR and a valued member of the Accountability Research Project steering team, shared her insights on creating a culture of healthy accountability in her organization. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong>Names Have Power<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Becca highlighted a significant shift in perspective that\u2019s becoming very clear throughout this project: rather than viewing accountability negatively, it needs to be promoted as a positive tenet of the culture, and the world \u201chealthy\u201d attached to accountability does just that. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At Securian, this shift from &#8220;accountability\u201d to \u201c<em>healthy<\/em> accountability\u201d will drive the company to achieve their strategic initiatives. Securian was one of the first companies to commit to being a part of the research because they saw the research and Conference as a way to drive better business performance. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><strong><strong>HR Driving the Culture<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Becca\u2019s team has an important role to play in defining the culture required for better performance. Being a part of the steering team has ignited excitement in her to introduce healthy accountability into Securian\u2019s culture. She\u2019s starting to notice small changes within herself as she interacts with her teams and employees across the organization differently. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI did some introspection in the places I\u2019ve been let down, and it may have been because I wasn\u2019t clear enough,\u201d Becca realized. \u201cI didn\u2019t give that concrete direction. It made me think, there\u2019s nothing better than knowing exactly what\u2019s expected of you.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And, it\u2019s just as difficult for leaders to create that clarity of expectations as it is for employees to not know what they are accountable for. The magic happens when you invite your team into the conversions of, \u201cthe what, by who, and when?\u201d to figure out what\u2019s feasible together.
