Last Thursday, nearly 300 leaders gathered for the 109th<\/sup>\u00a0Good Leadership Breakfast. The room was charged with a buzzing energy to celebrate the final episode of the spring series, Celebrating the Magic of Managers. The featured speaker was the inspiring Kristine Fortman, CEO of the Minneapolis Heart Institute Foundation (MHIF).\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kristine shared captivating stories from her leadership path \u2013 tales of strong, supportive nuns at St. Ben\u2019s who emphasized the importance of women empowering each other, her aspirations to follow in her father\u2019s footsteps as a professor at the University of Minnesota, and her realization that her true passion was in research leadership, a lesson learned from a peer mentor.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kristine\u2019s Success Habits<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

With every Good Leadership Breakfast speaker, we interview a few of their direct reports to identify their leader\u2019s success habits. A success habit is something a leader repeats over and over, because it really works. Kristine\u2019s team highlighted these as her success habits: <\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Honor differing\/unique talents \u2013 different perspectives create innovation<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Match leadership styles to situations \u2013 being adaptable while still being authentic<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Encourage questions \u2013 \u201ctell me more\u201d\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    Kristine is truly an advocate for Celebrating the Magic of Managers. She supports the idea that\u00a0managers are creators and keepers of the culture<\/strong>. \u201cImpactful things happen when all of us are reading off the same sheet of music,\u201d she stated, emphasizing the need for everyone in the organization to be aligned for the magic to happen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
